1974

The tree was crowned with a new top patterned by General Electric after an old fashion Christmas tree ornament. The 4 foot tall decoration featured 102 amber colored lights, 12 clear twinkle light sets in metal reflectors, and one quartz lamp at the top.

The tree was brighter than in the 1973 "energy crisis" tree, but was still an example of careful use of natural resources, a living symbol of conservation as well as of the Christmas spirit.
