1986 - The theme was "Liberty" in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty.
The tree was lighted by an overall blanket of 3,000 blue Christmas lamps, and was decorated further by two sets of lighted ornaments in a star-burst design. One set was composed with 100 red ornaments outlined with red lamps, plus a single white lamp in the center of each. The other was a pattern of 100 white ornaments interspersed amount the red. Each white ornament contained a single blue lamp. About 5,000 lights used in all.
